Injury Management Consultant Registry Application
An Injury Management Consultant (IMC) is a physiotherapist who acts as a resource for patients and their healthcare providers following motor vehicle accidents. These accidents may result in injuries such as sprains, strains, or whiplash-associated disorders.
The IMC assesses the injury and provides treatment recommendations to the referring practitioner and the insurance provider.
To work as an IMC, a physiotherapist must:
- Be licensed and practising in Nova Scotia
- Demonstrate knowledge of the biopsychosocial model of care
- Be competent in assessing both acute and chronic pain
- Have experience in rehabilitation and disability management
- Use evidence-based decision-making in their clinical practice
