Injury Management Consultant Registry Application

An Injury Management Consultant (IMC) is a physiotherapist who acts as a resource for patients and their healthcare providers following motor vehicle accidents. These accidents may result in injuries such as sprains, strains, or whiplash-associated disorders.

The IMC assesses the injury and provides treatment recommendations to the referring practitioner and the insurance provider.

To work as an IMC, a physiotherapist must:

  • Be licensed and practising in Nova Scotia
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the biopsychosocial model of care
  • Be competent in assessing both acute and chronic pain
  • Have experience in rehabilitation and disability management
  • Use evidence-based decision-making in their clinical practice
