
Registration Information
Registration information for applicants who:
- successfully completed the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (previously called the Physiotherapy National Exam),
- graduated from a school of Physiotherapy approved by the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapy Board or from a Canadian University and were licensed in a Canadian jurisdiction before March 22, 1999, OR
- graduated from a non-Canadian University and were licensed in a Canadian jurisdiction before March 31, 1994
All other registrants should contact the College Office or the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators for further instructions.
To practice physiotherapy in Nova Scotia you must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (NSCP)
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS IN NOVA SCOTIA
- Practiced physiotherapy 1200 hours in the past five consecutive years (if you graduated from a physiotherapy program more than 3 years ago).
- Are a Canadian citizen or have proof of being eligible to work in Canada (work visa or immigration papers).
- Have a letter of Verification of Good Standing from the regulatory board where you most recently practiced physiotherapy.
REGISTRATION APPLICATION PROCESS
Apply for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists. Contact the College office for a registration form or download; e-mail us at: registrar@nsphysio.com. Give your complete mailing address and a registration package will be mailed to you.
When you apply to register with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists, you will be asked to provide:
- Certified copy of your degree
- Documentation verifying successful completion of the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (prior to 1999 called the Physiotherapy National Exam) or a letter of Good Standing and proof of registration with another regulatory body in Canada – before March 31, 1994 for non-Canadian educated or before March 22, 1999 for Canadian educated.
- A picture of yourself (passport size).
- A letter of Good Standing from the regulatory board where you most recently practiced physiotherapy.
- Birth Certificate or other identification document.
- Curriculum Vitae including clinical and non-clinical experience.
- Proof of mal practice insurance required by Board.
- Affidavit Form.

Registration Fee (payable in Canadian funds):
- $310.00 for current year.
- $155.00 for three months only.
